Michelle Amerie

A graduate in Fine Arts from York University, Michelle has been greatly influenced through self-study, and her visits to the thrones of classical masters in the UK, France, Italy, Greece and Egypt.  Michelle has had exhibitions in Toronto and Chicago and has been commissioned by individuals, organizations and corporations to fulfill assignments.

Michelle's journey has been unpredictable - even fragile at times: I am not a painter, sculptor, writer or photographer - I am a chameleon - improvising, innovating and switching mediums to accommodate the whims of MS - to accommodate the constant fluctuations of both inner and outer worlds.

"Inside Out" is a reflection of the state and the circumstances to which we are all heir.  This work reflects the senses, both meditative and foreboding, which come with an ever-changing disability.

"Inside Out" uses alternatives to traditional photographic paper and involves one of the earliest photographic processes. The concentration of colours, exuding from each palm, is very warm and culminates in a stigmata-type effect.

Overall, the viewer is invited to peer at the artist in her world, while at the same time the artist is looking out through one of only 25 copies of this limited edition.
